Winter's Embrace by Argothar Winter's Embrace by Argothar
Well, I finally got around to installing a partition of Windows on my Mac, which means I can finally use Apophysis properly again. It's about the only reason I can give for missing Windows! It was pretty painful to watch a laggy, bugged out Apophysis running in Wine and struggling to cope with simple tasks like zooming and then crashing out! It was painful but it was manageable. Now I can start throwing out fractals again like I used to.
This is also the first time I discovered that Apophysis has a built in depth feature, and I had always been using photoshop to blur before this, although I'm not too sure this attempt worked out well or not!
Based on param's from *lielovecupcake
As always, ;) all comments and any favorites are much appreciated.

this is an interesting one, it's a 3D julian (i think :P) but not the usual composition which is quite refreshing.

there's something which i can't put my finger on though - could be something to do with the depth of field (can't remember what it's called now - the blur around the edges lol). maybe if it was taken back a little? there's such a small area in focus which gives the eye limited space to wander.

apart from that, the colours are stunning. couldn't have chosen better. the jewels stick out perfectly =)

I love how detailed this is, it looks like fabric covered with small gems. I really like the feeling of depth as well. I'd like it if it wasn't so centered. The colors are fantastic!

I really like the structure and its nicely filled without overlapp or gaps also the colouring and brightness is really well chosen. the small details are very cool too. though lots of them are blurred. the way of blurring (with that i mean the bottom left and top right) is a good choice i think but i would have done it a little less. as the way its cropped and positioned i think is well done because the main object is in the center and that doesnt affect the "tension" at all (often its better to have it not in the center to give more excitement but that doesnt apply here). overall a wonderfull fractal.

I love this fractal. The rich details remind me of a bejeweled piece of fabric. I especially like the reds, greens, and purples- they look like rare gems in an expensive gold setting. I also love how you use the blur effect to really focus on the center of the piece, but in a very non-standard way- instead of just focusing on one object, you make the clear portion of the fractal a diagonal, adding interest to the piece. If I have one criticism, it's that the edges are a trifle over-blurred, so that you lose some of your sense of because the blur seems to sudden to be quite real. Overall, the lighting is perfect, the coloring is perfect, and you have a very good sense of composition!
